More compact tab bar?

Describe your issue

In the most recent update, the tab bar was made less compact, leading to my tab layout for open channels overflowing into anther line of tabs. It would be nice to have an option for a more compact tab bar with less empty space around channel names – either reverting to the previous interface design, or perhaps customizable (like a "normal" and a "compact" layout.
