Great idea, but I don't think Element currently has the ability to recall a Graph (aka "preset") from an incoming MIDI Program Change message (at least I can't figure out how), but I agree that this is an important feature for many live applications. A build your own "performance mode" with large GUI buttons to recall "favorite" Graphs using a touch-screen input would also be useful, especially if there were a few sliders and buttons available to make adjustments, like a button that could be mapped to delay time, or a slider to control reverb room size between a predetermined min and max value. Additionally, a Cue List to load graphs in the show order, and which could play audio samples from a touch/midi input would be extremely useful for many theatrical applications. Often the users of this kind of tool simultaneously need complex setup options and limited performance options to prevent unintentional input. |

This is a great idea. adding MIDI control for recalling graphs would be awesome. |

They can be recalled if you're using a SubGraph + the normal MIDI program change built-in (see left nav panel) |

I started this: https://gitlab.com/kushview/element/-/issues/689 to begin detailing some of the stuff in this thread. Just so that I'm clear, when you're saying "recall" graphs you mean to load a graph, not just change graphs in the session? What would recalling actually do? replace the current/active graph? Append it to the session? |

I believe this might be a bit confusing because the unused graphs seem to
be loaded into memory even when not in use so that they can be quickly
selected. Personally, I think that only the "next" and "previous" graphs in
a cue list should be pre-loaded to reduce the CPU load. The user could also
define "favorite" sub-graphs to be made available for quick random
selection. Basiclly I think everyone wants Element to work equally well for
both a guitar player using a midi pedalboard to modify plugin parameters
via midi CC messages along with midi BNK/PGM messages to load graphs, as
well as for a FOH soundman using a touchscreen laptop to recall graphs in a
similar way, but via a GUI. Both users want to seamlessly (without audio
dropouts) recall a collection of plugins and their wiring via a single
action. Additionally, a soundman also wants to be able to view a scene to
edit it without being required to load that scene for processing. (I'm
starting to think Element might eventually replace my Waves SoundGrid rack
by using Dante + DVS + Element + Waves). Keep up the good work!

I'm a guitar players and I'd like to change my guitar tone "live" while
playing a song during a concert.
So the idea would be able to load several sub-graphs within a grap. Those
sub-graps would be connected in parallel, with only one sub-graph "on" and
the others "off" (muted), so that the guitar tone shoud be the tone you get
with the sub-graph that is "on".
The question is can we change the status ("on/off) of all the sub-graps,
at once, with a single MIDI message.
I mean you push one pedal of a MIDI foot controller to send a MIDI message
to element so that the sub-graph you want to be active goes from "muted" to
"on", the previous sub-graph that was "on" goes muted and the other
sub-graph that was previoulsy muted stay muted...
SO, yes the idea is to replace the current/active sub-graph by another one
using a single MIDI message.

Element doesn't have Cue lists yet, so that's not an option. You can accomplish what you want by adding multiple graphs on a Session each with the MIDI program number set. The graphs will change when program messages arrive. Graphs can be exported from the main menu. These exported graphs can be added to any other session. The downfall is users who have and need alot of graphs get a huge CPU hit because all graphs stay loaded even when not active. This is so there is zero delay while moving from graph to graph. I did some experimenting to with-demand graph loading using a sub "Graph" node + presets and the Node programs feature. Unfortunately sub graphs don't recall presets (bug). I've also been pondering the idea of adding an "Unload when not active" function to root graphs.... but I think the real fix is to add Cue lists as its own feature which can on-demand load graphs, place, and connect where needed. |

Understood.

Hi there. Any news ? Will Christmas be the D Day ? Will Element become a great virtual Guitar FX Rack ? |

I'd like to use Element as a guitar effect rack. I mean, I'd like to create "presets"(audio chains) by connecting VST FX plugins (amp sims). Then I'd like to save these presets giving them a name and then I'd like to change from one preset to another with a MIDI foot controller (such as the FCB 1010). Lots of amp sim have these features but only with their own FX plugin. I'd like to use different amp sim plugins to build my guitar effect presets and use them live (concert).
Can Element do that and how ?
Thanks a lot for answering.
