v2 Progress Thread #14

I have an initial version of the PCB ready to test. Sent to JLC for fabbing. Most of the ESP32 supporting circuitry is from a project where I used an ESP32-WROOM previously and it worked fine. The most important fix this makes is wiring up the RJ45 pins to logic shifters, and to GPIO pins that don't have alternate functions. Fixes #6 and other related power-up issues. I also believe the desk should not randomly go down when plugged in anymore. We'll see after I get a chance to test. Major changes:

Here's a draft of the new enclosure. Has standoffs and everything! I printed a STEP of the new PCB to do a test fit and it works wonderfully: screws thread into the standoffs nicely, PCB is secure and the RJ45 jacks fit. |

The first prototypes from JLC arrived today, and the board fits excellently in the new enclosure. The USB-C port fits better than expected! Unfortunately I made some silly mistakes on the CP2102 which makes it inoperable, so I will have to make another revision (such is life). But exciting to see the enclosure fit work first time! |

I received the revised boards recently and fixed another silly mistake that was bodgeable on this version and it works wonderfully. I put together a test version of the firmware and everything functions as expected — plus, the weird bugs I was aiming to remove are indeed gone! I feel we are very close to public testing and the first production run. |
