Introduction

The tasks to be performed by proGres-cube are limited by the Filter and Drill down options on the menu bar. These are the toolbars which give the fields from which data has been collected. Data of fields not listed in the two tools is therefore non-existent.

Logging on

To log on to proGres-cube, the user needs internet connection and a good browser preferably google chrome or Mozilla fire fox.

  • Type in your username and password (Note, the user names and password are case sensitive)
  • Click login

You will now see the proGres-cube website, which at this stage will be empty except for the navigation bar.

There is no limitation to the number of login attempts nor does the website logoff as a result of inactivity after a certain period of time.

Logging off To log off from the system, select the logout option at the top right position of the website.

BASIC FEATURES

Functions of the tool bars

  • Undo - This option enables the user to navigate or move a step back on an earlier command
  • Redo – This option enables the user to navigate or move a step forward on an earlier command which had been undone.
  • Explore – Give a summary of the total number of refugees.
  • Explore option can also be used to move BACK to the basic commands (Drill down and filtering) after creation of charts and diagrams.
  • Facts table - This option generates a list records according to the specifications given by the user.
  • Series tables – Displays the individual figures for the drilldown options selected
  • Chart- This option generates charts depending on the specifications of the user.
  • Drill Down – This gives other various options from which figures can be generated and listed according to the users specification

Filter- It has various options which include;

  • Filter selected - this option displays various filters selected once the user has made the selection
  • Date filter – This option displays the date at which a particular filter was selected
  • Range filter – Passes frequencies within a certain range and rejects frequencies outside that range.
  • Dimension filter – This gives a variety of other options from which the user can choose from.
  • Clear filters – This option allows the user to clear out the filters to fit their particular needs.

View

Options in this toolbar include,

  • Choose columns
  • Export table – this option allows the user to export the data generated into other formats e.g. Ms-Excel (CSV format)
  • Export facts

Panel

Options in this toolbar include;

  • Clone - This allows the user to duplicate a window
  • Rename - This allows the user to rename his/her data search according to their own preference.
  • Serialize -
  • Share - This allows the user to share the search data windows with other RSH Data warehouse users.
  • Save – This allows the user to save his/her work in the DBMS system
  • Delete – This option allows the user to delete a selected data
  • Close - This option closes a selected data set (Alternatively you can close the window by clicking on the X button at the top right of the window)

The Navigation Toolbar

  • Cubes: Contains the databases
  • Saves Views: Contains saved or shared tables and charts with specific details
  • Tools: Changes the format of the table to JSON
  • About: Contains short details about the data warehouse

GETTING STARTED

Go to the Navigation tools, click on CUBES and then select your preferred Database. In this case select Refugee/ Biodata.

Setting Parameters

To work with the data in the RSH Data Warehouse, the user has to set certain parameters.

  • Ensure that STATUS is ACTIVE (Filter STATUS by A)
  • Ensure that the REFUGEE STATUS is selected according to the population of interest.
  • Ensure that the Data is filtered according to the AGE RANGE of interest for children select A1, A2 and A3. If adults then select A4 and A5.
    The steps to setting the above parameters are listed below, NOTE: At all times the user should ensure that;

Active status

a. The Status of the data to be used in analysis is Active. (Select A)

STEPS:

This ensures that the records to be displayed will only belong to refugees who are actually living in camps or resettlement (Those with Active records). However, the user may decide to work with a different status depending on the task at hand. The following acronyms will be seen in the refugee status option;

  • A Active records
  • H Held records.
  • C Closed records.
  • I Inactive records.

b. The user should ensure the preferred refugee status is selected, this filters out the unwanted class.

  • RTR (Returned Refugee) - NOC (Not of Concern)
  • IDP (Internally displaced person) - ASR (Asylum Seeker)
  • STL (Stateless person) - OCO ( )
  • REF (Refugee) - RID ( )
