FineBuild can configure Instance Security Properties of the Analysis Services Instance.

The AS Instance Security Properties should be set as shown below.

AS Instance Security Properties configuration helps to focus SSAS administration rights on to the DBA Team. If you setup Security Compliance then AS Instance Security Properties configuration will always be implemented.

The AS Instance Security Properties configuration relates to Process Id 5BFA and is controlled by the parameters below:

In order to maintain compatibility with older versions of SQL FineBuild, the parameter /ConfigOLAP: can also be used.

FineBuild also uses the following parameters to help configure Analysis Services Security Properties:

Manual Configure AS Instance Security Properties

The following steps show what you would have to do for manual AS Instance Security Properties configuration. FineBuild does all of this work for you automatically.

  1. Select the Security tab

    Click Add to add windows groups to the Analysis Services Server Administrators role. These groups will have administrator rights within Analysis Services

    Security

  2. Use the process Find Group on Domain with the GroupDBA value to configure Analysis Services Administrator.

  3. Click OK to save any changes made

    Save
