Automated Watering

Vince Gellár edited this page Mar 29, 2018 · 3 revisions

The system uses a pump in a tank to provide water for the plants. The watering is off during silent hours, so as not to disturb anyone.

How does it work?

The system measures the soil's moisture level, and when it hits a level that is close to a level which is too low for the plant it turns on the pump for a few seconds to provide water to the plant. It uses the plant's pot size to calculate the amount of water to pump. The system does not pump water until the next measurement commit, to let the water dissolve in the soil.

Pump specifications

  • Voltage: 12V
  • Current: 0.5A
  • Flow rate: 280l/h

The system was designed with theese values in mind. We recommend using a pump with the specified values.
